Saturday, October 4th – Aufruf & Luncheon

What is an Aufruf?
An Aufruf is a joyful Jewish tradition where the bride and groom are called to the Torah for an aliyah before their wedding. It's a beautiful way to share this special moment with our community.

Details:

• Service: 9:30 AM - people arrive on their own schedule! If you’re there by 10:00 AM, you’ll see our part; if you’re later, you’re very welcome to come whenever you can. You’ll still be allowed in! :)

• Location: Congregation Beth Shalom, 5915 Beacon Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15217. (This is the congregation where Avi grew up.)

  • PARKING: There is a parking lot in the back, off of Shady Ave.

    • Ample FREE Street parking on Beacon and Shady.

• Luncheon: 12:00 PM in the social hall

• Menu: Dairy pasta lunch

• Who’s Invited: Everyone! Bring your children, parents, and friends; everyone is welcome to join us for this meaningful occasion.

• Attire: Business casual. Men, please wear a head covering (yarmulkes will be provided at the synagogue)

  • Please silence your phones. No pictures or use of phones is permitted in the building on the Sabbath.

🍕 Saturday, Oct 4 evening – Pizza & Beer

Time: 7:00–9:30 pm

Location: Mineo’s Pizza (2128 Murray Ave, Pittsburgh, PA) - We'll be in the party room in the middle, but will surely spill out into the bar area.

Details: Casual hangout - pizza, beer, and good company.

Street parking is free after 6 pm, and there is ample residential parking available a short walk away. This is one of Avi & Rachel's favorite pizza joints in Squirrel Hill (where Avi grew up and the Thaws often go)

October 5th Wedding and Reception

Autumn Cocktail Attire - outdoor reception (dress for the weather and for walking on grass!)

Parking

Parking at the venue is limited. We kindly ask guests to carpool or use a ride-sharing or taxi service.

Transportation Update

After careful consideration, we've decided not to offer the shuttle service from Squirrel Hill. We recommend carpooling or using ride-sharing services to get to the wedding venue. If you need assistance coordinating rides, please let us know.

Shuttle

*For guests staying at the Hampton Inn Wexford-Sewickley, there will be a shuttle leaving at 3:15 PM and 3:45 PM.

Schedule

4:00 PM — Egalitarian Tisch & Bedeken

4:45 PM — Wedding Ceremony

5:30 PM — Cocktail hour

6:30 PM — Vegetarian Dinner and Dancing until 10:00 PM

9:30 PM — First shuttle returns to Hampton Inn.

10:15 PM — Final shuttle returns to Hampton Inn.
